Speaking about the incident, Martinez, 25, said via The Sun: “It was tough. I had a watch stolen from my room yesterday and Schwartzman had things stolen from his room as well.
“I had a bad night, that’s the truth. I did not sleep. It was difficult to prepare for the game but I just tried to concentrate on the game. They have their own investigation at the hotel. When I got to the room I realized my watch wasn’t there.

“I bought it when I reached the third round of Roland Garros for the first time (in 2020). It was sentimental, yes, because it was from there. But what can i do?i searched all over the room there was none and when i went to reception to communicate with people then Diego came 15 mins after saying the same thing.”
The two players played on Wednesday, taking on Britain’s Ryan Peniston and Jack Draper respectively.
The Wimbledon seeds were announced on Tuesday with Novak Djokovic and Rafa Nadal securing the top two spots. They were followed by Casper Ruud, Stefanos Tsitsipa, Carlos Alcaraz and Matteo Berretini.
