Turkish military games on the deterioration of the national currency • MassisPost

Turkey is going through a new stage of the economic crisis. The national currency is depreciating at a record rate, updating historic lows almost daily. This undoubtedly compromises financial stability and negatively affects the well-being of citizens.
It is evident that the deterioration of the Turkish lira has become a challenge for both Turkish domestic and foreign policy. According to experts, the barrier of 10 ₺ to $ 1 is psychologically significant for the Turkish population. This is what propels Ankara towards new adventures on the international scene, which should lead to national cohesion after having carried out military campaigns abroad. War is the only way to distract the Turks in this situation.
There are several ways in which Ankara can uplift patriotic spirits. First, Turkey can make the idea of launching another operation in northern Syria a reality. But this scenario is very difficult for Erdogan, as he probably failed to come to an agreement with Russian President Vladimir Putin, and the United States has made it clear that the Turkish leader is not allowed to play with them. Kurds.
Libya is the second avenue Ankara could use to increase its military influence. But here too, Turkey is severely constrained. Key players in the Libyan crisis are seeking political dialogue and are awaiting national elections in December of this year. In addition, both representatives of international organizations and leaders of Western countries have pressured Turkey to withdraw its Syrian forces and mercenaries from Libya.
So Turkey has only one way to solve the existing problems. As recent events have shown, this is speculation about the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict. Armenia and Azerbaijan again experienced border violence after the war in the Nagorno-Karabakh region. Turkey’s foreign minister jumped on charges against Yerevan, declared full support for Baku, and Turkish drones were patrolling the Armenian-Turkish border at the time.
It should be noted that the United States, Turkey’s closest ally in NATO, is deeply concerned about this situation. In particular, US Senator Bob Menendez wrote about it on his Twitter. “Defense aid helps perpetrate these heinous crimes against ethnic Armenians. It is time to accept my amendment to reduce this aid, ”he said.
Apparently, the world community will reject further attempts by the Turkish leadership to artificially create another conflict between Armenians and Azerbaijanis. In view of this situation, Ankara should pay special attention to solving internal problems without projection on foreign policy taking care of the welfare of Turkish citizens.
