Two iconic Nags Head properties changed hands this month, according to the Dare County Land Transfer Report.
The property that was once the site of Mike Kelly’s Outer Banks Restaurant & Tavern was sold by German grocer Lidl, who bought it in 2017 and then scrapped plans to build a store there. And Mulligans Grille, a popular restaurant in Nags Head, was also sold.
The Lidl property was sold for $2 million on February 8 to a company identified as Nags Head 99 LLC. In 2017, Lidl bought the US 158 property at Milepost 10.5 from Kelly for $3.9 million. Despite winning site plan approval for a 36,000 square foot grocery store the following year, Lidl never developed the site and the restaurant remained closed on the property.
Mulligans, also located on US 158 at Mile 13, sold Feb. 9 for $3.5 million to an entity identified as Real Estate 4005 LLC, according to county records.
Owners of the properties as well as a representative of Nags Head 99 LLC could not immediately be reached for comment by voice. More details when available.
