Second Russian man with Covid-19 disappeared from Phuket hotel

A Russian man who tested positive for Covid-19 is wanted after he disappeared from his hotel room and has not yet returned. Wait! Don’t click! This is not a story about the Russian man who was the subject of a manhunt on Thursday and Friday. This is another very similar incident and police are still looking for the missing Covid infected man.
Anton Tikhomirov arrives in Thailand as part of the Phuket Sandbox program on January 3. The 29-year-old from Moscow traveled from the airport to his SHA+ approved and confirmed hotel – Sunwing Kamala Beach Resort – to begin his Sandbox soft quarantine period.
On January 8, the Russian man tested positive for Covid-19 and was placed in solitary confinement but allowed to stay in his hotel room rather than move to a medical facility. He was supposed to be quarantined for at least 10 days, but on the seventh day yesterday he left his compound in Kamala against the restrictions of his Covid-19 isolation.
The hotel reported to Kamala Police Station that the Russian man left the hotel yesterday morning. This afternoon, Anton still hadn’t returned to his studio hotel room facing the resort’s swimming pool.
Police are now looking for the Covid patient who escaped and are asking anyone who spots the Russian man to call a hotline or Kamala Police Station directly to share any information.
The hotline number is 098-010-8322 or the main police station number is 076-385310.
Sometimes it seems that in Thailand people never learn from their mistakes. In the hours or days to come we will know whether to say this about the Russian man with Covid-19 who disappeared from his hotel room, the hotel for not being diligent reasonable to confirm he was gone, or the authorities for launching a full public search for the man.
