Goa police have arrested a man from his hometown in neighboring Karnataka for allegedly raping a 12-year-old Russian girl at a resort town of Arambol in north Goa, where he worked as a room attendant, an official said. responsible today.

The accused, Ravi Lamani, 28, a married man, was arrested by a team of Pernem police on May 10 in Gadag in Karnataka for the sexual assault incident that took place on May 6. The mother of the rape survivor had filed a complaint. on May 9, he said.

Speaking to Press Trust of India, Pernem Police Station Inspector Vikram Naik said the woman complained that her underage daughter was sexually assaulted in the resort’s swimming pool and later in the bedroom hotel by the accused, who works as a room attendant. at the station.

“According to the complaint, the incident occurred when the girl’s mother went out to fetch needed items from a nearby market in Arambol, leaving her daughter in the swimming pool,” he said.

Vikram Naik said the accused fled after the incident.

“But within 24 hours of receiving the complaint, the accused was arrested after being found in Gadag,” he said.

Ravi Lamani has been charged under Section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Section 8 of the Goa Children Act and sections of the Protection of Children from Offenses Act (POCSO), Mr. Naik said.
