Russia uses Japanese restaurant brand in propaganda against Ukraine
The invaders used the brand of a well-known Japanese sushi restaurant chain to spread the false narrative of Ukrainian fatigue among international partners.
This is according to the Center for Combating Disinformation of the National Security Council, reports Ukrinform.
On August 10, a number of Russian media published images of what was believed to be a restaurant billboard where a Japanese sushi chef covers a Ukrainian woman’s mouth with the plea: “Let’s change the subject and let’s talk about delicious sushi,” the disinformation watchdog wrote in its latest report.
In this regard, the Center for Combating Disinformation, together with the Ukrainian Embassy in Japan, turned to the management of the channel in question, Sushinomidori, “to obtain an explanation regarding the billboard provocative”.
The investigation resulted in the company officially denying what turned out to be doctored reports. The channel took to its website to explain that it does not support discrimination against any country or nationality and that the image shared has no relation to their business.
As noted, the Kremlin, through its special services, is preparing an information campaign aimed at discrediting President Volodymyr Zelensky throughout Western Europe.
