Irish girl, 7, dies in hospital days after hotel swimming pool tragedy in Mallorca
A seven-year-old Irish schoolgirl has tragically died days after diving into a hotel pool in Mallorca. The harrowing incident happened at a hotel in the Calas de Mallorca resort on Monday.
The girl was rushed to hospital after being pulled from the water, but sadly died in hospital on Wednesday. According to witnesses, the young girl had separated from her parents and had fallen into the swimming pool. Ultimate Hora newspaper.
Rescuers immediately rescued her from the water and began resuscitation procedures. They fought for over an hour to perform PCR while the child’s mother was located with emergency medics also joining the fight to save her.
The girl was rushed to hospital in Palma, the island’s capital, where she was admitted to intensive care. However, she did not recover and died on Wednesday. The police are investigating the circumstances of the incident.
Calas de Mallorca is a family resort on the east coast of Mallorca based around a series of coves and small coves.
It was the latest in a string of drownings reported on the holiday island in recent weeks. Two tourists drowned in separate tragedies last week, while a former Dutch professional footballer died after jumping into the water last month in the resort town of Santa Ponsa.
