Hello pandas! What’s your worst restaurant story?
That evening we finally tried the local Thai place. I wanted to try it for too long. To say it was a disappointment is an understatement, $65 wasted.
What’s your story?
I went to a pizza place in Maryland and as I was taking a bite of pizza, something peeled off the bottom of the crust and hit my plate. It was a cockroach.
Going to an expensive steak restaurant only to get our two steaks well done when we ordered them medium rare. The waiter forgot about them so they stayed under the heat lamps and burned beyond repair. Waste of time and money and I haven’t been back since.
It’s not so bad. Once, while traveling, we stopped for dinner at a restaurant shortly after arriving at our destination. The food was awful and there was hair in it. The plates weren’t washed well, and neither was the silverware. And it was very expensive.
When my kids climb under a pre COVID table like 2018. Steak n shake and embarrassed the c**p out of me. Where people were sitting at the table. A couple. I bet they were like, we’ll never have kids
I went to a local bakery. (Not exactly a restaurant but IDC). I was looking at the cakes behind the glass and a LIVE MOUSE jumps out from INSIDE THE CAKE. There were bites and crumbs everywhere. I told the manager and he sent me. So much for helping, huh?
I went to restaurants with people. We ordered a mixed grill. They brought us a rare pork steak. I told the waitress and her response was “it’s okay, a lot of people like it with blood”. I told him to take it back to the kitchen and learn the difference between beef steak and pork…
I had also ordered a plate of liver with caramelized onions – for those who don’t know how to caramelize them for you with a dash of honey – I had a plate of liver swimming in a black liquid. When I tried it it was so awful
.. again the waitress replied “that’s how we do it here. With vinegar” -_-
Af a restaurant in New York with my family. When we finished the meal, our server gave me the card machine. When my wife started paying, our waiter got mad and said I have to prove I’m a man by paying
Years ago my husband and I went to this new Russian restaurant. We were super excited because we had never eaten this type of food. My husband orders a chicken kyiv and I order this mini ravioli type dish. We were told my husband’s dish was going to take a while to cook, about 30 minutes, which we were fine with. We waited over an hour and a half for our food! The waiters kept saying “the food is coming” over and over. People who came after us got their food first. We should have left, but we really wanted to try the food. The food finally comes out and my husband’s chicken is completely raw inside. My ravioli was cold in the middle (clearly frozen). We’re not one to complain, but this was nonsense. I told the waiter and he agreed that my husband’s chicken was actually raw. I told him my dish was cold in the middle, to which he replied “oh, that’s because when the food gets cold, it gets cold inside first.” WFT??? They said they would redo my husband’s dish which we declined and asked for the check. They offered my husband’s food but not mine and gave us a certificate for a free appetizer for next time. Needless to say we left and never came back. The restaurant didn’t last long after that.
My wife and I went to our favorite fondue restaurant, The Melting Pot, for the first time in a few years. It’s a lovely romantic place filled with cozy nooks and great food and generally excellent service. Tonight would not be the case.
Not only did we sit in the main dining room, it was “family night” – which meant the place was crawling with loud screaming children, which made both of our anxiety disorders pop. Our server was too busy managing tables of more people (which he probably assumed was heavier tips) to provide us with any type of service.
Before the dessert class the manager stopped by and asked how we were doing and my wife choked back her tears telling him honestly how terrible our night was. He moved us to one of the more private tables and bought us dessert, but the damage was done and we haven’t been back since.
