Fresno Police Make Speedy Arrest in Hotel Homicide – GV Wire
Fresno police arrested a 22-year-old man in the shooting death of 20-year-old Deisha Guzman at a Hampton Inn on Sunday morning.
According to a police department press release, Guzman’s boyfriend, Christopher Jordan, shot and killed her as he mishandled his Glock Model 19 handgun.
After questioning Jordan, officers arrested him on Sunday night for manslaughter and careless discharge of a firearm. He was incarcerated in Fresno County Jail, where his bond stands at $15 million.
Officers responded to the hotel in the 300 block of East Fir Avenue after receiving a call about a gunshot victim. EMS took Guzman to Saint Agnes Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 9:41 a.m.
The alleged shooter has changed his story
According to investigators, Jordan said Guzman accidentally took her own life. But, after further questioning, he admitted shooting and hitting Guzman, who was on a couch.
Jordan told officers he believed the Glock was unloaded because he removed the magazine before handling the weapon, according to the press release.

Officials say the investigation into Guzman’s homicide is ongoing.
