Focused discussion on Union state common currency not ongoing, according to Kremlin – Business & Economy
MOSCOW, December 2. / TASS /. There has been no focused discussion on the Union state’s common currency, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Thursday.
“You know that the stage of integration which has been reached thanks to the signing of an impressive set of Union programs does not imply the introduction of the common currency, which is why there is no still had focused discussion, ”he said.
In this case, so far “theoretically” the problem is with “a certain currency unit,” Peskov said. “No focused discussion on this issue is underway so far,” he noted, adding that the integration between Russia and Belarus is developing naturally, “thus responding to the level of preparedness and the demand of the two countries for a new promotion “. “Going forward, we will probably reach the depth of integration suggesting also detailed talks,” Peskov said, adding that Moscow and Minsk already have a union agreement suggesting deeper integration, and that this step has need time “to be reached”.
An online meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Federated State of Belarus and Russia was held on November 4, during which Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko signed a decree giving the green light to 28 programs of integration with Russia. Prior to that, the document had been approved by Russian President Vladimir Putin. These 28 documents are mainly focused on economic integration, in particular the creation of common markets for gas, oil and petroleum products, as well as electricity, the formation of a common agricultural and industrial policy, the development of common rules in various fields – from access to public contracts to the social field.
