Drug lord detained in Istanbul hotel lobby

The Afghan leader of an anti-drug and criminal organization, “Lions-Cartel”, who is believed to be implicated in more than 30 crimes in Germany, has been arrested in connection with an operation in Istanbul.

Sanger Ahmadi was arrested at a hotel in the Bahçelievler district of the metropolis along with four other gang members.
According to police sources, Ahmadi was expelled from Germany for crimes committed in the country.
The gang leader posted photos on his social media accounts revealing he was in Istanbul.
Seeing the photos, the Bakırköy District Attorney General opened an investigation and teams from the Istanbul Police Department’s Organized Crime Division determined that Ahmadi was staying in a hotel.
The teams raided the hotel and grabbed Ahmadi and the other members, identified only by the initials JY, SV, MAD and OM in the lobby.
Police questioning of detained suspects continues.
The gang leader had posted photos showing him posing with long-barreled guns or friends at nightclubs.

An opposition MP raised a parliamentary question on October 7 asking the Turkish parliament to investigate how he entered Turkey after being expelled from Germany.
