Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery advises the public that counterfeit currency has passed through local businesses.

Some tickets are written in Chinese. Some say “For cinematic use” on the face. Others have Russian words printed on the front and back, while some of them have no serial numbers on them.

Authorities say they were adopted and accepted into various businesses in the area, and several of them were found on the ground along Cannie Baker Road.

Cash handlers are advised to carefully review these types of bills before accepting them.

Any counterfeit tickets inadvertently accepted or attempted to be used should be reported to the appropriate law enforcement agency.
