CCTV footage from the restaurant is part of the probe
Punjab police are combing through CCTV footage to identify the men who murdered 28-year-old Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala on Sunday. New footage showing seven men eating in a restaurant at 10:30 a.m. on May 29 has sparked the interest of investigating authorities. The singer’s father, Balkaur Singh, said in his complaint that he saw seven to eight people shooting at his son’s car. The State Police Special Investigations Team (SIT) is currently reviewing the footage.
Another CCTV footage was released earlier on social media showing two cars following Sidhu Moose Wala’s vehicle moments before he was shot down in Punjab’s Mansa district. The video, however, is not verified by state police. Yesterday, Sidhu Moose Wala was shot more than 30 times by around eight to ten assailants, according to police sources.
So far, six suspects have been arrested in this case. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has ordered an investigation into why the popular rapper-singer’s security was reduced. He was on the list of 424 people whose security blankets were taken away by Punjab police two days ago.
Canada-based mobster Goldy Brar claimed responsibility for the murder of Sidhu Moose Wala in a Facebook post last night. Goldy Brar is a close associate of gang leader Lawrence Bishnoi, a former Delhi University student leader who is the prime suspect in the singer’s murder and is in Tihar prison in a separate case.
Bullets found at the murder site in Mansa district of Punjab indicate that a Russian AN 94 assault rifle was also used in the attack. The police also found a gun.
